Ephesus
Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary

We visited Ephesus on 2 September 2022, the last full day of the tour.
The ancient city
One of the best preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean. In Roman times it was one of the largest cities of the empire. Walking down its marble streets, the highlights are:
- The Library of Celsus, with its famous two-story façade.
- The Great Theatre, carved into the hillside.
- The Temple of Hadrian.
The House of the Virgin Mary
Nearby, on Mount Koressos, is the House of the Virgin Mary, a shrine visited by both Christians and Muslims.
In the afternoon the tour stopped at a leather center, with a fashion show and, again, a chance to buy.
Tip: Go to Ephesus as early as possible. In summer there is very little shade.
