Portuguese Pumpkin Christmas Fritters Recipe

They are so good still warm! What a treat for Christmas!


At our place, we like to feel and smell the Christmas Spirit! So the countdown starts now! We love the lights, setting up the Christmas tree, decorating the house! It's a magic time of the year, and we have to enjoy every moment of it!

So, here it goes another recipe that feels our spirit and our bellies ahahah 🤪 We hope you like as much as we do!

Portuguese Pumpkin Christmas Fritters Recipe - The2Planners


2kg Pumpkin
5 tbsp Sugar
60g Wheat Flour
5 Gems
1 Shot of Port Wine
1 Lemon Zest
Oil to Fry


1. Cook the pumpkin in water seasoned with a little salt.

2. After the pumpkin is cooked, pass everything through a strainer and place the mixture on a cloth, forming a ball, hanging for a day or two, to remove the excess water.

3. Add the flour, egg yolks, sugar, lemon zest, port wine, and a little cinnamon to the puree created above with a wooden spoon.

4. After mixing the dough well, let it stand for 2 hours.

5. Put oil to be heated to fry the dough, after reaching the ideal temperature, start by placing little amounts of the dough in the oil for frying.

6. Let it get a golden color, remove from the oil, and then pass the cookies or sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
