Broa de Milho - Portuguese Corn Bread Recipe There is nothing more Portuguese than a well-made Corn Bread! This crust is amazing! 18.02.21 Ingredients: 250g Corn Flour 250g Wheat Flour 300mL Boiling Water 100mL Warm Water (50mL + 50mL) 6g Active Dry Yeast 1 tbsp Salt 2 tbsp Granulated SugarRecipe:1. Scald the corn flour in the boiling water, kneading well. Let it rest for 1 hour.2. In a bowl, dilute the yeast in 50mL of warm water and 1tbsp of sugar. Let stand for 15 minutes to activate the yeast. In another bowl, dilute the salt with the others 50mL of water.3. Add wheat flour to the corn flour preparation, and add the water with yeast and the water with salt. Knead very well for a few minutes with the help of an electric mixer (5min), or by hand for about 10-12min.4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for 45 min in a warm place.5. Transfer the ball-shaped dough to the oven tray. Sprinkle it with flour and make a cross in the center. Bake in a preheated hot oven for about 1 hour at 220ºC | 430ºF.6. After that time, remove the bread from the oven and you are ready!TIP: If you want to eat it while still hot break the bread with your hands!
