Caramelized Almond Tart Recipe

This is a very traditional Portuguese dessert and you have to try it!

In bakeries you'll find this dessert in small portions, but for you, we made a big one! As always this is super easy, and the ingredients are already in your home, maybe you'll have to buy just the almonds! 

We prefer to use shredded almonds, but you can use sliced ones too! 

Be careful with the filling, don't let it get too dark brown on the stove! Otherwise, it will burn in the oven!

Ingredients - Crust:

150g Unsalted Butter
1 Egg
125g Granulated Sugar
250g Wheat Flour
30mL Milk

Ingredients - Filling:

100g Unsalted Butter
100g Granulated Sugar
50mL Milk
200g Almond
Butter (to grease the pan)

Recipe:

1. First we will make the crust, put the melted butter in a bowl mixing it with sugar, then add the egg, milk and mix everything very well.

2. Add the wheat flour until you get a very consistent dough, but very moist as well.

3. Take a tart pan and butter it and then pour the dough. With your fingers form the shape of the tart crust.

4. Bake in the oven at 180ºC | 356ºF for 15-20min.

5. After removing the crust from the oven, it is time to make the filling, in a saucepan, put the sugar, milk, butter, and almonds, for 10 minutes until it gains a slight brown color, very very light brown color.

6. Remove the filling from the stove and pour it over the pie crust.

7. Spread the almonds very well and take it to the oven again.

8. For 20-25min at 180ºC | 356ºF or until the edges start to turn dark brown.
